Smart Slow-Feeder Bowl

Built for dogs who inhale their food — a stainless steel maze that makes every meal safer without the plastic that scratches, stains, and needs replacing.

Dogs evolved to eat slowly. Kibble and modern feeding routines work against that. The Fetra bowl uses a stainless steel raised maze pattern — not the plastic ridges that crack, stain, and harbor bacteria. Your dog still gets their meal; it just takes longer to get it, which is the entire point.

Bloat (GDV) is the second-leading cause of death in large breeds. Speed eating is a direct contributor. A slow-feeder bowl is one of the lowest-effort interventions that demonstrably changes that risk. This is the stainless version because plastic slow feeders get scratched, then become bacterial surfaces, then get replaced every six months.

Available in one size that fits dogs from 15 to 100 lbs. Deep enough for 2–3 cup servings, shallow enough to actually slow them down.

Fit and use details
Maze depth: 8mm raised ridges — enough resistance for fast eaters, shallow enough to clean completely
Capacity: Fits 2–3 cups of dry kibble; suitable for dogs 15–100 lbs
Cleaning: Dishwasher-safe (top rack). Hand-wash also works — stainless cleans in seconds with no residue
Best for: Fast eaters, bloat-prone breeds (Labs, Boxers, Great Danes, Weimeraners, Standard Poodles), dogs who vomit after meals
Not ideal for: Wet food — the maze pattern traps wet food and makes cleanup harder. Works best with dry kibble or large-piece raw

Common questions

Yes — but the degree depends on your dog. Most dogs slow down substantially from the first meal. Some highly motivated dogs (Labs especially) find workarounds initially and need a week to settle into the maze pattern. The 10× figure is a benchmark from feeding trials; real-world results vary, but a meaningful reduction in eating speed is consistent across breed sizes.
Yes. Top rack, any normal dishwasher cycle. The 18/8 stainless does not corrode in a dishwasher environment — that's the whole point of this grade of steel. The non-slip base is silicone and also dishwasher-safe. Nothing about this bowl degrades in a dishwasher over time the way plastic ridges do.
Yes. The maze has no dead zones that trap kibble permanently. Your dog will get every piece — it just takes longer. If you use very small kibble (under 5mm), pieces can occasionally wedge between ridges; a quick rinse under water clears them. Standard kibble sizes work fine.
Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) has multiple risk factors — speed eating is one of the most cited and most actionable ones. When a dog gulps food quickly, they ingest air simultaneously. This air accumulates in the stomach and can contribute to the conditions that lead to bloat. Slowing the eating rate reduces air ingestion. We're not veterinarians and this bowl is not a medical device, but the mechanism is straightforward and consistently referenced in veterinary guidance on GDV prevention.
The bowl is 18/8 food-grade stainless steel (also labeled 304 stainless). There is no plastic in the bowl interior — zero BPA, zero leaching risk. The base ring is food-safe silicone. We made this specifically because plastic slow feeders scratch, and scratches become bacterial surfaces. Stainless doesn't scratch under normal dog-food use.
The bowl is 10 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches deep. It holds 2–3 cups of dry kibble comfortably — enough for a single meal for most medium to large dogs. If you're feeding over 3 cups per meal, feed in two separate bowls or sittings rather than overfilling. The bowl fits dogs from 15 to 100 lbs. For dogs over 100 lbs eating over 4 cups per meal, contact us before ordering.
30 days from delivery. The bowl must be returned unused and in original packaging. If your dog has used it, we can't accept a return — this is a food contact surface. If there's a manufacturing defect, contact us at hello@fetra.com within 30 days and we'll replace or refund regardless of use.

Early customer feedback

These are real responses from our first customers — no star counts, no invented names.

"Our Lab used to finish a cup of kibble in about 8 seconds. With this bowl it takes him nearly 3 minutes. He stopped vomiting after meals in the first week. That's the whole story."

— Lab owner, Denver CO
Early customer feedback

"I've bought three plastic slow feeders. All of them cracked within a year. This one is stainless — I expect it to outlast the dog. The dishwasher-safe part is not a gimmick, it actually comes out clean."

— Multi-dog household, Seattle WA
Early customer feedback

"My boxer is a GDV risk according to our vet. She recommended slowing his eating down. This is the only stainless option I found. He figured out the maze by day three but still eats noticeably slower than before."

— Boxer owner, Nashville TN
